Being a LittleBlueRhino I don't know a great deal about Music, But 'Catherine', a friend of mine has helped me make some notes on my favourite tune..
I particularly like the music of the eighteenth
century French Composer Marin Marais. One of his pieces, from the opera
"Alcyone", is a very happy dance tune for the matelots and matelottes
(male and female sailors) in the opera. This tune is the same one as the
carol "Masters in this Hall". I like to dance to this and I have
a whole series of steps, some slow and dumpy and some quick and scuttly.
I have to make sure that I haven't eaten too many hoops or I start to feel
dizzy and ill and the whirly parts have to be left out. I like to sing
along with this, and sometimes the tune comes back into my head just as
I am resting and I sing:
"I'm a little matelot, And my ears go to and fro!".
This makes me very happy and my friends love it too!
Be prepared for the next installment of my musical Lexicon.
